EMAILLERIE BELGE
STAGES OF 2/6
PREPARATION OF THE ENAMEL
The enamel consists exclusively of minerals, which are 100% natural (such as: silica, borax, feldspar, cryolite, fluorspar) mixed and combined by fusion at temperatures of approximately 1300°C, then cooled suddenly to cause shattering into fine particles or blades, known as
frits
.
These frits are the raw material for the company.
When mixed with water, salts and clay, the frits are ground finely at the factory in casks to form a homogeneous and semi-fluid mixture called
slurry
(paste).
